Awwwww........

Let's all absolve them of their sins, just like their Jesus would do.

Just say you're sorry and all is well.

Here's some 'heartfelt' apologies from Popey John Paul II, according to Wikipedia:

Apologies

Over the later parts of his reign, John Paul II made several apologies to various peoples that had been wronged by the Catholic Church through the years. Even before he became the Pope, he was a prominent supporter of initiatives like the Letter of Reconciliation of the Polish Bishops to the German Bishops (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letter_of_Reconciliation_of_the_Polish_Bishops_to_ the_German_Bishops) from 1965. During his reign as a Pope, he publicly made apologies for over 100 of these wrongdoings, including:

The persecution of the Italian scientist and philosopher Galileo Galilei (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galileo_Galilei) in the trial (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trial_%28law%29) in 1633 (31 October (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_31) 1992 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992)).
Catholic involvement with the African slave trade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_slave_trade) (9 August (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_9) 1993 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993)).
The Church Hierarchy's role in burnings at the stake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Execution_by_burning) and the religious wars that followed the Protestant Reformation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protestant_Reformation) (May 1995, in the Czech Republic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czech_Republic)).
The injustices committed against women in the name of Christ, the violation of women's rights and for the historical denigration of women (10 July (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_10) 1995 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1995), in a letter to "every woman").
Inactivity and silence of some Roman Catholics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazism_and_religion#Catholicism) during the Holocaust (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocaust) (16 March (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_16) 1998 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1998)).
For the execution of Jan Hus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Hus) in 1415 (18 December (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_18) 1999 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999) in Prague (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prague)). When John Paul II visited Prague in 1990s, he requested experts in this matter "to define with greater clarity the position held by Jan Hus among the Church's reformers, and acknowledged that "independently of the theological convictions he defended, Hus cannot be denied integrity in his personal life and commitment to the nation's moral education." It was another step in building a bridge between Catholics and Protestants.
For the sins of Catholics throughout the ages for violating "the rights of ethnic groups and peoples, and [for showing] contempt for their cultures and religious traditions". (12 March (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_12) 2000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000), during a public Mass of Pardons).
For the sins of the Crusader attack on Constantinople (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourth_Crusade) in 1204. (4 May (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_4) 2001 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001), to the Patriarch of Constantinople (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriarch_of_Constantinople)).
For missionary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missionary) abuses in the past against indigenous peoples of the South Pacific (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceania) (22 November (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/November_22) 2001 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001), via the Internet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet)).
For the massacre of Aztecs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aztecs) and other Mesoamericans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesoamerica) by the Spanish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spain) in the name of the Church.

So he makes all these apologies for things that happened 300 years ago. What a glorious man. What about the present times? For the way he turned his back on Catholic murders in Ireland and Priest molestations of children in Ireland, now I wish there was a hell for assholes like John Paul II to burn in. I'd love to see him fry for eternity for turning a blind eye to his own religion.
