Pentagon awards BP, Shell big fuel contracts

WASHINGTON, Sept 19 (Reuters) - The Pentagon's Defense Logistics Agency on Tuesday awarded contracts for turbine and naval distillate fuel to BP (BP.L: Quote, Profile, Research) and Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L: Quote, Profile, Research) on Tuesday.
BP West Coast Products LLC, a unit of London-based BP, won a 12 month contract worth up to $573 million for JP-8 turbine fuel and F-76 naval distillate fuel, the agency said in a statement.
Shell Oil Products U.S., a U.S. subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell, won a 12-month contract worth up to $254 million for JP8 turbine fuel. The contracts end on Oct. 30, 2007.
