Gaza City, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called the killing of seven Palestinians in an Israeli Army attack on Beit Hanun in the Gaza Strip, a "contemptible massacre."
Tel Aviv s Defense Forces opened fire on a home where six members of a family were keeping a vigil over a Palestinian who died in a previous clash, said witnesses at the scene, who also put the dead at 10, with as many as 20 wounded.
Three of the fatalities were members of the Popular Resistance Committees, among them the commander of the group, Ash Shanbari, Arab sources reported.
A Tel Aviv Defense Forces spokesperson said a special unit carried out the operation near Beit Hanun and Beit Lahya to prevent new attacks against Israeli territory by Palestinian militias.
Over 20 Palestinians have died in recent weeks in Israeli operations in Gaza and the West Bank, a continuation of the massive invasion June 28 that left more than 250 dead.
