9-11 commission chair wants Bush response

The chairman of the now disbanded 9-11 commission has denied getting documents on Mohamed Atta and wants the White House to verify that.
Time magazine reports Thomas Kean wants President Bush to confirm whether a document linking Atta and al-Qaida was given to Deputy National Security Adviser Steven Hadley by Rep. Curt Weldon, R-Pa.
Weldon accuses the commission of being less than thorough in investigating a Pentagon program that discovered the Atta connection.
Kean said he's tired of defending the commission and wants proof the document exists. He said it was never given to the commission.
The Defense Department has not found the document.
A new development in criticism of the commission has surfaced though.
The commission reported that hijacker Khalid Almihdhar was out of the country from the summer of 2000 until the summer of 2001 but a Florida identification company reports they issued him an ID card, the magazine said.
Kean said there is enough evidence supporting the commission's conclusion but everything should be followed up.
