I mean... this whole thing is a clear example of what happens when your Government makes the wrong decisions based on the wrong priorities. Katrina is just ONE example. What environmental decisions have been made that will hurt us in the future? Fiscal? Educational, etc...

I'd say yes because I live in a area of economic importance. Also depends of if it's an election year.

The wording of the poll question is a little broad.
How much can we be protected from natural disasters>? Most natural disasters are not easily predicted.
Maybe the word you should use is "prepare"

Maybe the word you should use is "prepare"You get the gist though... Will they BE there, in a timely fashion, to minimize life loss, and provide basic human services. I think Katrina was an experiment. They waited until it was good and late in the game, and only THEN did they go in. Probably to see how much control they had over the sheep while they were in that position. Didn't alot of those people end up in FEMA camps?

Not only do I believe they won't protect us against natural disasters, I believe they are going to create a lot of unnatural disasters.
