Yes, we are ALL infuriated with how our Government has been corrupted, and we ALL want those responsible for our current situation held accountable, but what about the good things? What do you love about this country?
Here are some of the things that I love. When parts of the country are in trouble NO ONE is more generous than the American people. I love the National Parks. I think some of them are absolutely beautiful. I like the different people. I like the diversity in languages, even though I only understand English, and a little Kling-On. I love the music created here. Blues, Jazz, etc... And Baseball... I love to play it, hate to watch it. I love our T.V. shows... Seinfeld, Friends, Cheers, etc... I love our skyscrapers... the different city skylines are incredible at night.
What do you think are the good things about America?

Well said. Some of the things I like are how you can be who you wanna be and still, for the most part, be accepted in society. I like the movies, the t.v. shows, the music, the entertainment in general. I like the opportunnity every American has to make something of themselves in this country. Love the diversity as well. I like how modern America is (yes I know where getting behind). I also really like how there's something for everyone here, that is, whatever hobbies you have or intersts, it's all right here. Whatever you like doing, it's here, and your free to do it. And so on.....
Sincerly,

The thing I love the most is that we can complain about our governement and our country as much as we want and no one is going to arrest us or shoot us in our sleep. I value our freedoms most of all. And it worries me that so many people are willing to give up their freedoms for a sense of security. Oh sorry getting side tracked . . . I love the music and movies and Law and Order: SVU and the shopping.

The music they play all the time in SVU is wierd. Ya know, that du du du, noise that happens every 5 mintues. It's as is something important happend, but all they did was change scenes. Anyways, shopping is for girls. Real men wear the same clothes over and over again, and get new clothes from Christmas presents.

Dude the *donk donk* makes the show! SVU is so my favorite show. I know plenty of men who shop . . . granted most of them are gay but they are still men!

Everytime I post a reply or quote, i'm gonna say *donk donk* so I can have that same compellingness as SVU.

In no particular order...
Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs, The Black Panthers (Heuy Netwon etc, not the so-called New BPs), the Civil Rights Movement, Malcolm X, Eugene V Debs and the early Socilaist Party, James P Cannon and the early Socialist Workers Party, The Industrial Workers of the World, Joe Hill, Paul Robeson, David Rovics, Counterpunch, Democracy Now, Flashpoints, Pacifica Radio in general, Hunter S Thompson, Interpol (the band), the Abolitionists, The Revolutionary War, The Civil War (the results of), Blues, Folk, Soul, Hip Hop, Free Speech, Trial by Jury, the Native American struggle, the Womens' Lib movement, the LGBT Lib movement, the Anti-War movement (past and present), Tom Paine (ok he was Brit, but Common Sense was the intellectual force behind the Revolutionary War), the Abraham Lincoln Brigade (Spanish Civil War), the GIs who fought fascism in the 40s... but most of all I love the millions of United Statesians and immigrants who are still fighting for a better future for humanity, locally, nationally and globally.
And Ralph Nader and Bernie Sanders are ok too.

i like going back to the states after living in germany for the last 31 years, and am once again going to be counting how many people ask me
...."oh, you live in germany....cool...what language do they speak there?"
at least most everyone has heard that communism is not what it used to be, and i don't get asked about "living behind the iron curtain" any more. (was always in western germany).
but i havn't been back since 911, (i'm flying back to denver monday to spend christmas with my mom)....maybe the new questions will be about all the "terrorists in europe" or something like that.... LOL
sorry you guys, i couldn't resist getting in on this one. i've really been asked these questions more often than either any of you, or myself, would want to believe...
but i'm glad to get back for a few weeks, really...i'm loookin forward to it !!!!

Treatment of women. I know women are still fighting to make as much money as men and the modeling industry is single-handedly killing the self esteem of young girls, yadda yadda yadda, but at least we have a voice here. And we don't have to dress a certain way or be considered "less than" just because we're female. There's a lot to be said for that.
I don't want to even try making a list of all the things I like about America. There's too many!
P.S. SVU is the best Law and Order out there!

Yeah, I'd hate to live in an Asian country when it comes to porn. You can't show downstairs there! At least that's what I've heard about Japan, don't know about the other countries.

They focus a lot on porn cartoons but these cartoons are way more graphic than any western porn, animals, children, poop, torture, rape its popular in cartoons down there.

isn't Japan the home of the bukaki? come on, they got great stuff!
never expected to post to this, but since i am on it might as well give my 2 cent$.
shit, can't think of anything i love about america except it is my home and my family and friends are here...plus you all.
but america is really pissing me off, and i know i shouldn't feel this way because it is not america but rather the forces that control it.
i am saddened and if things continue this way, well, i am buying a one way ticket to amsterdam....maybe Venezuela.
but i'd just as much die fighting for the things this country has always stood for, so maybe future generations can enjoy them.
