We want Osama bin Laden brought to justice in the United States ... or do we?

VHeadline.com commentarist Mary MacElveen writes: On September 20, 2001, Bush coined the now infamous phrase: "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists" ... that speech was given days after the attacks that befell the United States on 9/11.
What a hypocrite Bush was and is, making that statement seeing that he gives safe harbor to a known terrorist, Luis Posada Carriles.
On October 6, 1976, Cubana flight 455 took off from Caracas carrying 73 persons including a fencing team. Whether you are speaking of a terrorist act that took out the lives of over 2,000 people on 9/11 or the lives of 73 people taken on 10/6, 1976 ... both incidents were barbaric where innocent lives were taken.
Months after this plane went down, Venezuelan police arrested the suspected terrorists to stand trial. In 1985, Carriles masterminded an escape from his Venezuelan prison ... he was unrepentant for blowing up the aircraft and was determined to kill again.
While Bush may not know where Osama bin Laden is, Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez ... as well as President Fidel Castro of Cuba ... know where the CIA-trained terrorist Luis Posada Carriles is and Chavez wants him back.
Just as we want Osama bin Laden brought to the bar of justice within the United States ... or do we?
So, why aren't we handing Posada Carriles over? Could it be in our anti-Castro policy as being the reason why do we do not hand Posada Carriles over? Please remember that a strong political force of anti-Castro Cuban/Americans have the ear of this government ... just look at this entrenched embargo and you know this to be true.
Just the other day Bush said of bin Laden: "When he says he's going to hurt American people, or try, he means it." Rest assured, that is how Cubans' feel about Posada Carriles since he admitted involvement in a string of hotel bombings in 1998 in the nation's capital of Havana. This CIA-trained terrorist took the life of an innocent Italian. You would think that Italy would demand the United States to send this terrorist back to Venezuela where he originally escaped from prison after he took down that aircraft.
According to the National Security Archive "Washington D.C. May 10, 2005 - Declassified CIA and FBI records posted today on the Web by the National Security Archive at George Washington University identify Cuban exile Luis Posada Carriles, who is apparently in Florida seeking asylum, as a former CIA agent."
Once again, the CIA is mentioned...
Let me get this straight: We, the United States of America are treating a terrorist as if he is just your average foreign citizen seeking asylum? Well, considering he wanted to kill Castro, of course we are...
How can we as a civilized (?) nation justify harboring anyone and treating them as if their case is an immigration case when they blew 73 innocent people out of the sky?
I would love to hear Bush's excuse for why the terrorist Luis Posada Carriles is allowed to roam free in our (USA) country. He is a trained killer ... trained by the CIA. Just suppose if you will, that we knew that Osama was hiding out in either Venezuela or Cuba ... we would attack both countries for harboring him. Plus, Americans' would sanction and bless this attack ... but knowing that Venezuela is a pacifist country and that both Venezuela and Cuba are no match to our military might, Venezuela is resorting the legal system to have him extradited in the name of justice.
Many here in the United States clamor for our borders to be more secure: "Using a false passport, Posada snuck into the United States in late March and remains in hiding." The reason his lawyer is asking Bush for asylum is the fact that he worked for the CIA during the 1960s and early 1970s ... and remained an informant in regular contact with CIA officials at least until June 1976.
When Posada Carriles escaped from Venezuela in 1985, he fled to El Salvador and worked under the alias Ramon Medina on the illegal contra resupply program run by Lt. Col. Oliver North in the Reagan National Security Council. So, even back during the Reagan administration we had a terrorist working for us.
Then again with our involvement in Afghanistan, bin Laden rose to power ... it is no wonder why Bush saw Reagan as his role model.
Peter Kornbluh, at the Archive's Cuba Documentation Project, said there is "no doubt that Posada has been one of the world's most unremitting purveyors of terrorist violence" ... the same can be said of Osama bin Laden.
During the 2004 campaign, Bush stated: "I think you can create conditions so that those who use terror as a tool are less acceptable in parts of the world." Well, Bush how about Miami where Carriles is hiding out? Is Miami harboring a terrorist? You bet they are.
Are we sending drone missiles into Miami as we just did in Pakistan to take the lives of 13 innocent women and children looking for members of al-Qaeda?
According to Kornbluh: "the FBI has indicated it is not actively searching for him (Osama bin Laden)."
This is what I do not get, folks ... as we insist that the FBI looks for terrorist cells here within the United States, we know where one is ... and he's in Miami. While we have alleged terrorist being held in GITMO, a proven terrorist, who was already tried and convicted, yet escaped ... nothing is done to him. Why?
As heinous as we think Osama bin Laden is, Posada Carriles is equally heinous.
And if President Chavez were ever to say of Carriles what Bush once said of bin Laden: "I do not know where bin Laden is ... I have no idea and really don't care ... it's not that important ... it's not our priority" (which he -Bush- stated on 3/13/02) ... what do you think the reaction of the Venezuelan people would be? They would immediately take steps to remove President Hugo Chavez from power.
The USA-funded opposition organization Sumate would have a juicy field day if Chavez ever made such a similar idiotic remark comcerning Posada Carriles.
Speaking of Sumate, and the way they cozy up to the Bush administration ... Maria Corina Machado has even had many pictures taken with Bush ... you would think they also would want a Venezuelan terrorist extradited by the United States and brought back to their country ... you would think they would want Posada Carriles where he rightfully belongs ... behind bars in a Venezuelan prison.
To Sumate: so is terrorism okay with you?
To the George W. Bush ... many Americans are angry that an audio tape of bin Laden surfaced last week and we still want him caught ... you promised him to us: "Dead or alive!"
How do you think the people of Venezuela feel knowing that you are harboring their most-wanted terrorist?
Scarce wonder then that President Hugo Chavez calls Bush, "Mr. Danger."
Those, like G.W. Bush, who harbor terrorists are indeed dangerous!
