Not since the US used the Atomic bombs to end WWII has a nuclear weapon been used in conflict. Considering the madness in the Middle East that seems to be increasing rather than ending, it seems to be only a matter of time before a new nuclear "event" occurrs. Some think that the US is at threat, but I believe that it will occur in the Middle East where the World's greatest concentration of nuclear weapons are kept. Where? Israel, of course. This tiny country, being continually assaulted by insane suicide bombers also has some insanity of it's own. Numerous known nuclear sites. How long before a Palestinian or Israeli fundamentalist decides to "end it all" for everyone and figures out a way to do it? Here's just a few of the sites:

Isreal Nuclear Weapons Locations as of 2000:

Eilabun (35o30'E, 32o52'N): tactical nuclear warhead storage, est. 80 warheads (50 AFAPs, est. 2 kt enhanced radiation; 30 ADMs, est. 1 kt fission)

Tel Nof air base (34o49'E, 31o50'N): alert aircraft (F-15s and/or F-16s) to carry NGBs; NGBs stored in Zachariah bunkers

Yodefat (35o10'E, 32o50'N): nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly facility; est. 2 nuclear warheads on site (est. 1 kt fission)

Zachariah (34o56'E, 31o45'N): 20 Jericho I SRBMs (est. 60 kt fission) and 50 Jericho II IRBMs (est. 200 kt boosted fission) missiles on TELs in caves/ shelters; entire missile field covers about 20 km2 (smaller than 6 km by 4 km)

Zachariah (34o52'40"E, 31o45'30"N): 21 bunkers (5 large, 16 small) for nuclear warhead storage, est. 70 NGBs (30 NGBs, est. 200 kt boosted fission; 40 NGBs, est. 10 kt fission)

(Delphin submarine base): base for 3 SSG and storage of warheads for SLCMs; est. 20 SLCMs

Look at the signs... the man from Pakistan, A. Q. Khan, was selling Nuclear secrets all over the Middle East... at the end of last year, a Nuclear Scientist was arrested in Russia because he was storing weapons grade plutonium in his garage for over 8 years.

The threat is vivid. In September 2004, undercover agents arrested a man in the former Soviet republic of Kyrgyzstan who was trying to sell plutonium-239, a substance used to make atomic weapons. Earlier last year, another suspect was picked up trying to sell cesium-137, which could contaminate large areas if used in a crude nuclear bomb.

The only "silver lining" (and not much of one) is that it occurs there & not here plus they'll be the assholes for once, not us.

I've thought about this for several years. It's probably neded to wake-up those insane zombies (on both sides BTW) that currently live in a truly bizarre world.

Here's old news on Israel...

Total nuclear warheads and fissile material in Israel as of 2000:

242 nuclear warheads, total yield 19.3 mt (containing 630 kg plutonium)

10 kg additional plutonium

12 kg additional highly enriched uranium

nuclear warheads at 5 sites (82 sites/launchers)

fissile material at 2 sites

Don't you think Israel alone would be able to wipe out Iran? Maybe during the cold war we would have to worry about the Soviets. Does anyone think the Soviets would help Iran now?

Germans arrest 'al-Qaeda members'

Germany uncovered an alleged plot to target the Iraqi PM

Two suspected al-Qaeda members have been arrested in Germany, prosecutors have said.

The men are accused of planning suicide attacks and of trying to buy uranium.

The 29-year-old Iraqi and a 31-year-old Palestinian were detained during early morning police raids in Mainz and Bonn, Federal Prosecutor Kay Nehm said.

The BBC's Ray Furlong in Berlin says the arrests come at a sensitive time, as US President George W Bush is due to visit Mainz next month.

Mr Nehm said the two men had been under police surveillance for some time.

Co-ordinated raids

One of the men had allegedly trained at al-Qaeda camps in Afghanistan and had links with Osama Bin Laden.

As well as planning attacks, the suspects were also accused of trying to obtain uranium in Luxembourg, Mr Nehm said.

Germany has been trying to clamp down on Islamist groups since it emerged that some of the 9/11 hijackers had a base in Hamburg, our correspondent says.

Earlier this month, German police detained more than 20 suspected Islamic militants in raids across the country.

In December, they arrested three men they claimed were planning to attack the visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi.

I thought Clinton was responsible, and Bush was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

You got the first part ...half right. Clinton wasn't responsible. just too busy filling his own agenda to care about the people. Terrorists are the enemy NOT Bush.

P.S. that was a very unusual response. WTF did Clinton get mentioned for. You know I gottcha....hahahahahahhaha :D

Actually I was being sarcastic. It did happen on Bush's watch and a real man would take the blame. A coward will try to deflect it.
