This claims it's "Fake news..."

This has many contradictions. They said they continued to sell oil to Britain using the pound, but later says "it wasn’t until later that year that the Kingdom stopped accepting the pound as payment." Sounds like they switched to the petrodollar to me.
I don't even know why they're referring to this as a "conspiracy theory." Did I say anything that sounded like a "Conspiracy Theory" or did I just say that this happened?
Here's a report from 12/12/1974 that seems to confirm they stopped trading on the pound...
http://nytimes.com/1974/12/12/archiv...di-arabia.html
"A crisis of confidence in the British pound gripped foreign‐exchange markets today as sterling weakened anew following the disclosure that Saudi Arabia no longer desired to receive any portion of her oil payments in British currency."
They started to talk about it in January of last year...

This happened right before it ended...

"LONDON, June 5 (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia has joined a China-dominated central bank digital currency cross-border trial, in what could be another step towards less of the world's oil trade being done in U.S. dollars."

"Some US commentators have even gone so far as to claim that there was no such agreement and that this is just another conspiracy theory."

Here's an article from NDTV from 6/20...
https://www.ndtv.com/opinion/is-the-...-india-5929169
"While it is true that the pact did not mean that Saudis would sell oil in dollars alone, the emerging arrangement - the agreement to invest in US Treasury bonds - was a secret one, details of which emerged later. It translated into crude being not only priced but also sold exclusively in US dollars."
A report on 6/20/2024 from something called the "Atlantic Council" which Wiki describes as "an American think tank in the field of international affairs, favoring Atlanticism, founded in 1961. It manages sixteen regional centers and functional programs related to international security and global economic prosperity. It is headquartered in Washington, D.C."

Here's a report from 6/21/2024 from ScheerPost...
https://scheerpost.com/2024/06/21/is...ing-to-an-end/
It states that "the rumour that this decades-long petrodollar agreement had come to an end reflects the widespread expectation that a seismic shift in the financial system will overturn the rule of the Dollar-Wall Street regime. It was a false rumour, but it carried within it a truth about the possibilities of a post-dollar or de-dollarised world."
